Master’s Program at the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester

Wesleyan University maintains an agreement with the University of Rochester (UR) which allows students who have majored in Physics to be admitted to the Master’s Degree Program in Optics at the Institute of Optics of UR, recognized as one of the leading optics schools in the country. Modern optics is an exciting field with many applications including data transfer and processing, quantum computing, medical diagnostic, remote sensing, laser driven fusion and many more. Research opportunities in some of these and/or related areas also exist in the Wesleyan Physics Department.

In order to be eligible for the Master’s Program at Rochester, students must maintain an overall grade point average of at least 3.0 and a physics grade point average of 3.3 and receive the endorsement of the Wesleyan coordinator. Admitted students will be offered financial support in the form of a 50% tuition scholarship for the first semester of studies, renewable for the duration of studies for those students making satisfactory progress (as defined by UR according to its policies) toward the degree. Students will file the regular application forms including undergraduate transcripts, letters of recommendation. The application fee will be waived.
